first book
I already went to entry exams of two schools of animation: Les Gobelins (paris), considerated as the best animation school in france, so of course the most difficult to access. but once you are in there, it is known that you wont have much problem to find a good job in a studio. the question is, do you get to a good level because of the teachings of the school or because of all the efforts you did to get in it? it has the reputation of teaching the "disney" techniques. eh yes, for those who dont know anything about animation, there are a lot of different ways to animate: just compare The Lion King (disney) with Tekkonkinkreet (studio 4°C) or Pokemon (japanese technique for series). but here is not the time to speak about it.
the second school i tried is the EMCA (Angoulême). it is said that they let much more freedom to the students to find their own style. this year will be the third time i try it, and i hope the last. there are three steps to pass the exam: first they look at your application form and your book, then you have to pass a nude drawing test, a storyboard test and a logic test. and then if you pass it you get to the englisch exam, film analyse exam and interview (the interview being the main thing). last year i managed to pass the main exam part, but i f***ed up the interview.
here is the book i presented
